ArtistMastered™ Giclée Prints and Reproductions

ArtistMastered™

Created and printed by the artist as an original work of art.
Some works are begun with traditional techniques such as
pencil, watercolor or oil. Others are created entirely
as a digital image. They are then refined to produce a piece.
When signed, it is testament to its authenticity and status
for they are truly unique, original and one of a kind artworks.

I personally perform every step of the process. When signed,
it is testament to its authenticity and status as a unique,
original and one of kind artwork created entirely by the artist.

Giclée

The term Giclée, pronounced JZHEE-CLAY,
comes from a combination of the French words
gicleur
(nozzle) and gicler (to spray).
My favorite printer is an Epson Stylus Pro
with 8 color Epson Ultra Chrome K3 inks
(formulated for their fade resistance and longevity)
printed on a variety of acid-free, pH balanced papers.

Giclée Print

An original work of art produced specifically as a print.
This is not artwork created for another purpose,
such as an illustration or gallery art, but rather a piece
created to be produced only as a Giclée print.
My Giclée prints are not intended to ‘mock’
or reproduce an image in another medium,
but rather to create an original print of outstanding
quality and merit to my satisfaction.

Giclée Reproduction

Traditional artwork produced as close to the original as possible.
I only select paintings and drawings that will reproduce well.
These are produced by me with the same techniques used
for my Giclée prints.

Definitions in general use of the collectibles market

Artist's proofs

Originally, the first few prints in an edition of lithographs
were used to test colors and then given to the artist.
They were not necessarily numbered but were signed,
and occasionally time/dated. Artist proofs are not considered
part of the edition.
Today, they have become a deceptive way to increase
the value of reproductions, although usually they are simply
pulled from the general run and market A/P.

Gallery or publisher's proofs

Gallery and publishers proofs are used as a means of
increasing the number of prints in an edition.
