Horse and Dog Patrol.

"Dog, Horse, and Coast Guardsman to the Rescue"

The Coast Guard provided manpower, horsepower and "man's best friend"
to guard the coasts of the United States during World War II
from feared German invasion via U-Boats.
This depiction is on the Northeast coastline.
In September 1942, horses were authorized for use by the beach patrol.
The mounted portion of the patrol soon became the largest segment of the patrol.
